In short : I mentioned negatives to be picky, but australia wireless rental is highly recommended! Thanks pa Completely agree. There are a number of providers who will rent you an appropriate telephone number for pretty much whichever country you need for a few bucks per month I have a Melbourne number that lets Aussies phone me at local rate when I'm in UK and a UK number that lets UK people phone me when I'm in Aus.

Can't say enough how pleased I was with the service, customer service, ease and cost of the product! Just go to any Telstra retail shop or order via their website and save shedloads compared with the cost of rental! One of us is confused.

If it is going to be in remote areas, then Telstra offers good portable wifi and if more metro I am sure that Optus would be fine also. Luigi A, i was refering to whether the modem kit pocket wifi is usable when i am back to the states. I dont want to buy and it will be a waste. Yeah they look new. Thats the reason i am asking here if there is comparable solutions. Apparently they are marketing it quite rigorously. I found them through google ads.

Have a closer read of the FAQs on the website. They are selling local Australian telco sims: expressly from Telstra and Optus. So, no, they'll be useless to you in the USA unless you have a source of great wealth to pay the usage charges. And fundamentally you might as well buy a Telstra or Optus sim from a Telstra or Optus phone shop, as buy it through a third party, mightn't you?

Oh actually they are not selling sim card at all.

Fast Portable WiFi for International Travel

My understanding is we rent pocket wifi which includes the 1GB data per day for the duration we require and we return it to them with the prepaid envelope provided.
